Vintage Mixtape: Songs from the 1920s

posted in: Blog | 0

So after writing my last blog post, I fell in love with the idea of making a mixtape as a gift. (All my friends will probably be getting one this year haha.)

I decided to look into some love songs for your valentines day mixtapes. I've looked into the 1920's, 1940's and 1960's and I'm going to post three mini blogs in total to help you compile the best, most diverse mixtape for your romantic day from over the decades.

Now I've got to admit this has been an education for me, and I've loved it, I've never really looked into this kind of music before but I have a feeling I'll be hooked now!

The five songs below were written in the 1920's. I hope you like them and they get you excited for what's to come!

1.With a song in my heart - written by L Hart

With a song in my heart
I behold your adorable face.
Just a song at the start
but it soon is a hymn to your grace

2. The best things in life are free - L Brown

The moon belongs to everyone
The best things in life are free,
The stars belong to everyone
They gleam there for you and me.

3. Side by side - H Woods

Oh, we ain't got a barrel of money,
Maybe we're ragged and funny;
But we'll travel along, singin' a song,
Side by side.

4. Blue Skies - Irving Berlin

Blue skies smilin' at me
Nothin' but blue skies do I see
Bluebirds singin' a song
Nothin' but bluebirds all day long

5. That's why I love you - Ted Lewis & His Band
